Vol. 557 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

303 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science when funds will be released to carry out work on the extension and toilets at Newtown school, Faugheen, Carrick-on-Suir; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that currently young children have to leave this school to use outside toilets; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21566/02]

I take it that the Deputy is referring to Upper Newtown national school in Carrick-on-Suir. Architectural planning for a building project at Upper Newtown national school is at an early stage. Decisions on projects proceeding to tender and construction in 2003 will be taken in the light of the annual allocation for primary school buildings, taking into account the contractual commitments to be met on projects approved and the priority to be afforded to individual projects.
