315 Mr. Eamon Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department's annual accounts are done on a full accrual accounting system; and if not, if there is a timescale for the implementation of such an accounting method. [21634/02]
The annual appropriation accounts for my Department are prepared in accordance with the accounting principles and public financial procedures for all Government Departments. These accounts contain the level of accruals information which is required by the existing regulations. Any changes to accounting principles and the format of the appropriation accounts is a matter for the Minister for Finance in the first instance.
