369 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children his plans to provide funding to the Western Health Board to provide a secure psychiatric unit in Sligo, Castlebar, Galway, Roscommon and the Ballinasloe region; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21529/02]
I am informed by the Western Health Board that the develop ment of a secure psychiatric unit for the Western Health Board region will be examined as part of the board's overall development of mental health services. The board has commenced this process with the preparation of a mental health strategy, which it expects to complete in 2003.
