Vol. 557 No. 1

Written Answers. - Secret Service.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Ceist:

386 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the current state of Ireland's secret services; if they exist; the number employed by the secret services; the annual budget for the secret services; if they are based solely here, or also operate overseas as do other secret services; if they work overseas; the remit of the secret service; the person to whom they answer; and the number of arrests which have resulted from their operations in the past ten years. [21170/02]

There is no secret service structure in this jurisdiction. The Secret Service Vote, which allocates moneys to a number of Government Departments, is administered by the Department of Finance. The amount allocated to that Vote is published in the Annual Estimates.
