Ceist:389 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prosecutions there have been under the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2000. [21237/02]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that, since the Act came into force in 2000 and as of 23 September 2002, 371 prosecutions have been commenced. I am further informed that as of 18 October 2002, 129 temporary closure orders for the sale of alcohol to under age persons have been ordered, of which 22 are currently under appeal.
