Architectural planning for building projects at the schools referred to by the Deputy is at an early stage. Decisions on projects proceeding to tender and construction, including the projects at the schools referred to by the Deputy, will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for primary school buildings and when all budget decisions have been taken by the Government. It is not possible at this point to give an indication as to when construction will commence.

My Department has an extensive primary school building programme under way at present and this includes a large number of projects at various stages of architectural planning. My Department has no plans at present to start architectural planning for further major primary school building projects. In the meantime, the authorities of the school in question should use the devolved grant which is given to all schools on an annual basis to deal with essential health and safety issues.
