To date, eight community transport groups have received funding for transport operations under the rural transport initiative while projects from a further 17 groups have recently been approved for operational funding. Kerry Community Transport was one of the eight original groups selected for operational funding and has received funding of €114,276 so far under the initiative. The overall allocation is being paid in instalments and I understand from Area Development Management Ltd., which is managing the RTI on behalf of my Department, that a further allocation would be due to the group in the near future. In all some €3 million will be spent on the RTI this year and a similar amount is earmarked for 2003.
