A grant of €95,230 was allocated to the club in question under the 2001 sports capital programme administered by my Department.
Organisations allocated more than €76,184 under the 2001 programme were required to execute a deed of trust, which provides, inter alia, for a refund of the grant in the event of the facility not continuing to be used for the purpose for which the grant was allocated. Deeds of trust are vetted by my Department's legal advisers, the Office of the Chief State Solicitor.
The deed in this case has recently been executed and two payments amounting to almost €38,000 in total have since been issued to the club. The balance will be paid when further invoices are submitted by the club and approved for payment by my Department.
