Vol. 558 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

214 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the cost for building a three bedroom semi-detached house at local Government level for each of the past six years; the number of houses which have actually been provided for each of those years by local authorities at national level; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24225/02]

The following table sets out the average construction cost of a local authority house for the period 1997 to 2002, including site costs and fees. It is estimated that half of local authority houses constructed in the period comprised three bedroom houses. Separate statistical data on the construction cost of three bedroom semi-detached houses is not available in my Department.
