128 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he is taking to implement the recommendations of the report addressing the crisis in the developmental education centre, St. Vincent's Centre, Navan Road, Dublin 7; and if a person (details supplied) will be retained to facilitate their speedy implementation as requested by the parents of the children concerned. My Department welcomes the report prepared by the facilitator appointed by local management as part of the internal process to resolve the difficulties which had arisen at the centre. My Department is working with the Department of Education and Science to put in place the arrangements necessary to undertake the assessment of the children.
While I am aware that the parents have requested that the facilitator continue to be involved in the implementation of the recommendations in his report, it is considered that any decision concerning his continued involvement is a matter in the first instance for local management as it was at their request that he became involved in this process.
