Vol. 558 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Agreement.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

55 Ms Shortall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the recent statement by a person (details supplied) that his union would not recommend a new national agreement unless union representation for workers in all companies is guaranteed; the steps she intends to take to address these concerns and ensure such representation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24884/02]

The issue of representational rights for workers is currently being discussed by the social partners in the context of negotiations on a successor to the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. In light of the fact that these negotiations are ongoing it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the matter at this time.
