Vol. 558 No. 6

Written Answers. - Industrial Relations.

Joe Costello

Ceist:

101 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Education and Science the nature of the industrial dispute which has deprived a college (details supplied) in Dublin 1 of its school attendance officer since September. [25211/02]

There is no industrial dispute involving the former school attendance officers. They transferred to the National Educational Welfare Board and are now its staff, in accordance with the provisions of the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000.

Discussions between the management and union sides in relation to the terms and conditions of the officers as educational welfare officers in the new service, under the board, have been under way for some time. Recent talks have also involved the services of the Labour Relations Commission. Contact between the parties is ongoing and it is hoped that the matters at issue can be resolved in the near future.
