Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

433 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the funding his Department has allocated in respect of, or the up-to-date position on, the south Kildare regional water scheme. [25895/02]

This scheme is approved for funding in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-04 under the rural towns and villages initiative. Kildare County Council's tender recommendation for the scheme is under consideration in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Ceist:

434 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in relation to water extraction from the River Banner by Kildare County Council; the position of the application within his Department; the funding available in respect of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25896/02]

This proposal forms part of the implementation of the water supply strategy for County Kildare which is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-04 at an estimated cost of €56 million. I understand that Kildare County Council is currently preparing a revised environmental impact statement on the proposal for submission to An Bord Pleanála.
