Vol. 559 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

124 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in issuing a reply from his Department (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26248/02]

The Deputy will be aware that responsibility for the provision of health services to individuals rests with the health board of the area in which they reside. The individual concerned quoted County Longford as her address in a letter to me dated 14 August and accordingly the correspondence was passed to the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board for attention. Following inquiries by the MHB my Department was advised that the person resided in the Western Health Board area.

The correspondence has since been re-directed to the chief executive officer of the WHB for appropriate action and direct reply. The person in question was informed of the position by my Department on 25 September.
