30 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to instances of members of the Defence Forces being penalised in any way for their membership in the Permanent Defence Forces Other Ranks Representative Association; and if so, the action he has taken to rectify this, and to ensure that this will not happen in future. My Department is fully committed to both the principle and practice of representation in the Defence Forces. Both civil and military branches of my Department maintain an excellent ongoing relationship with the president, officers and national executive of the Permanent Defence Forces Other Ranks Representative Association and are in daily contact with the association. I am not aware of members of the Defence Forces being penalised for membership of the association.
However, if the Deputy has any details regarding a specific incident of this sort, I invite him to forward them immediately to me and I assure him that they will receive immediate attention.
