Ms Betancourt was kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, FARC, on 23 February 2002. She remains in captivity. I understand that the Colombian Government is engaged in sensitive moves with a view to securing the safe release of Ms Betancourt and the many kidnap victims of the FARC. In this context, representations on my part are not called for.
