253 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the number and grades of staff transferred to his Department from the Department of Agriculture and Food; the sections within the Department of Agriculture and Food from which they left and the sections to which they are allocated in his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As a result of the changes in departmental functions decided by Government in June 2002, a total of 38 posts were transferred from the Department of Agriculture and Food to my Department. Thirty members of staff of the Department of Agriculture and Food were transferred along with eight vacancies. The numbers and grades of staff transferred are as follows: two principal officers; five assistant principal officers; one administrative officer; seven higher executive officers; six executive officers; one clerical officer; one senior agricultural inspector; one agricultural inspector; one agricultural inspector, grade 1; two agricultural inspectors, grade 2; three assistant agricultural inspectors.
These members of staff worked in the rural development divisions I and II and the agricultural inspectorate of the Department of Agriculture and Food. At present, these divisions retain the same responsibilities in my Department as they had in the Department of Agriculture and Food. The staff which transferred with this work have, for the present, remained with the functions transferred.
