Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

264 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27177/02]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has no record of having received an application for a refund of tax from the taxpayer. The inspector's records indicate that the taxpayer paid no income tax during the 1999/2000 tax year and that she paid the correct amount of tax in 2000/2001 and in the short tax year 2001. The inspector does not have sufficient information to determine the taxpayer's tax liability for 2002. The taxpayer should obtain her form P60, certificate of pay, tax and pay-related social insurance, for 2002 and send it to her inspector of taxes, together with any information which the taxpayer wishes to include as to why she may be due a refund. When the inspector of taxes receives the information required the taxpayer's liability will be reviewed. If it is found that the taxpayer has overpaid tax, the inspector of taxes will refund the overpaid tax as quickly as possible.
