307 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has made representations to the Colombian authorities regarding the holding of a person (details supplied) as a hostage in Colombia by the FARC guerrilla group. [1105/03]
Ms Betancourt was kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, FARC, on 23 February 2002. She remains in captivity. I understand that the Colombian Government is engaged in sensitive moves with a view to securing the safe release of Ms Betancourt and the many other kidnap victims of the FARC. In this context, representations on my part are not called for.
