My Department has recently issued a circular to the management of all primary schools – Primary Circular 24/02 – Determination of Valid Enrolment in Primary Schools. This circular sets out my Department's policy in relation to the valid enrolment of pupils in primary schools, which specifies that a copy of the pupil's birth certificate, and the PPS number of the pupil, should be obtained for the school records at the time of enrolment.
