490 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the proposed provision of new facilities to replace St. Patrick's post-primary school, Naas, County Kildare; if the Kildare VEC has put forward an alternative accommodation proposal in respect of this school; when the future of the school is likely to be clarified; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1920/03]

My Department's post-primary building unit has not received correspondence from the chief executive officer of County Kildare Vocational Education Committee regarding the availability of alternative sites or any accommodation proposal in relation to the provision of new facilities for St. Patrick's post-primary school, Naas, County Kildare. The matter will be reviewed in the light of correspondence from the chief executive officer.

491 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science when architectural planning is likely to proceed in respect of the provision of extra facilities required at Tiermohan national school, County Kildare; if adequate funding is available to enable this project to proceed in 2003; if so, the stage in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1921/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

An application for improved accommodation has been received from the management authorities of Tiermohan national school. However, my Department does not intend to allow further large-scale projects into architectural planning during 2003. The school's application will be considered again in the context of the 2004 capital programme.

492 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the degree to which funding is available in 2003 to provide for each remaining stage of the development plan in respect of Scoil Uí Riada, Kilcock, County Kildare; his plans to take initiatives to expedite the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The project at Gaelscoil Uí Riada is at an early stage of architectural planning. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include it in the new projects to start construction in 2003. The project will be considered again in the context of the 2004 capital programme.

493 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has had discussions with the authorities at Scoil An Linbh Íosa, Prosperous, County Kildare, in regard to the provision of extra facilities required at the school; the full extent of the requirements; the extent to which funding is available in his Department to fund each or all of the stages in 2003; the timescale for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
