Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

500 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the full extent of any further facilities, accommodation or staff requirements identified in the primary school sector in Celbridge, County Kildare; his precise intentions in regard to such proposals in 2003; if he has provided the necessary finance to meet any such requirements in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1930/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. My Department will continue to monitor school accommodation needs in the Celbridge area and any additional requirements in the area will be addressed as expeditiously as possible.

The mainstream staffing of a primary school is determined by applying the enrolment of the school on 30 September of the previous school year to a staffing schedule, agreed between the Department and the education partners. Mainstream staffing of primary schools in Celbridge for the 2003-04 school year will be determined by reference to this schedule, in the normal fashion.
