A grant of €76,184, £60,000, was provisionally allocated to Carrickerry Sports Association Limited under the 2001 sports capital programme administered by my Department. The grant was subject to the terms and conditions of that programme and among these was the execution of a deed of trust, which provides, inter alia, for a refund of the grant in the event of the facility not continuing to be used for the purpose for which the grant was allocated. Deeds of trust are invoked by my Department's legal advisers, the Chief State Solicitor's Office, CSSO. Payment of the grant can only proceed when the deed of trust is in place.
The CSSO is in communication with the organisation in question and its solicitors with a view to finalising arrangements which are required to enable the deed of trust to be put in place.
