Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

John Deasy

Ceist:

156 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources his plans for the development of Dunmore East harbour; the financial provision which has been made in the 2003 Estimates to commence work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1957/03]

Consideration of the overall development needs of Dunmore East fishery harbour is ongoing and feasibility studies into any proposed development will take place this year. The question of funding a major development at Dunmore East fishery harbour centre will be considered in the context of the funding available for fishery harbour development works post-2003 and overall national priorities.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

157 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if funding will be provided as promised for the new pier at Bantry, County Cork. [1839/03]

My Department is currently reviewing the project referred to by the Deputy for the construction of a new pier at Bantry. My officials have met with the chairman of Bantry Bay Harbour Commissioners and have kept him informed of developments. When the review is complete I expect to be in a position to make a determination on funding for this project and the conditions applicable to any such funding.
