Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

452 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the likely date of commencement of a sewerage system for Castletown, Geoghegan village, County Westmeath; the detailed cost of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4647/03]

The estimated cost of the Castletown-Geoghegan sewerage scheme is €1.25 million. This scheme is being progressed under a pilot design-build-operate contract for the provision of waste water collection and treatment systems for 12 rural villages. Expressions of interest have been invited from suitable contractors. Construction will commence as soon as poss ible following completion of the procurement process.

Dermot Fitzpatrick

Ceist:

453 Dr. Fitzpatrick asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding a new sewerage scheme for Ardmore, County Waterford; the timescale for its implementation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4648/03]

The Waterford grouped towns and villages sewerage scheme will address the waste water treatment requirements of Ardmore as part of a grouped design-build-operate project that also includes Cappoquin, Dunmore East, Kilmacthomas, Kilmeaden-Ballyduff lower, Stradbally and Tallow.

The scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-04 to advance through planning. Waterford County Council recently submitted a preliminary report for the scheme. It is under consideration in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
