The Lagan Desert water supply scheme has been approved for funding in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-2004 under the rural towns and villages initiative. Stage 1 of the scheme has been completed. Donegal County Council has recently submitted a revised design report for stage 2 of the scheme, which is under consideration by my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible. My Department is awaiting the submission by the council of contract documents for stage 3.
The Carndonagh sewerage scheme is included in the water services investment programme 2002-2004 as a scheme to continue construction. Donegal County Council submitted proposals for a number of extensions to the scheme to my Department in October 2002. My Department is currently awaiting the submission of further documentation relating to the proposed extensions that has been requested from the council in the meantime.
The Desertegney water supply scheme is included in the water services investment programme 2002-2004 as a scheme to commence construction. I approved Donegal County Council's tender recommendation for phase 2 of the scheme in December 2002. This element of the scheme involves the connection of the Desertegney water supply network to the Pollan Dam supply. I understand that contract documents for phase 3 of the scheme, which involves the provision of service reservoirs and booster stations, are currently being prepared by the council. No proposals have been received by my Department from Donegal County Council in relation to the Carndonagh water supply scheme.
