238 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the necessary approval and financial support will issue to or through Kildare County Council to facilitate the urgently required road and bridge alignment at Bond Bridge, Maynooth, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have recently announced a Non-National Road Grant Allocation of €15.105 million in 2003 for Kildare County Council.
This allocation included €2.330 million under the EU Co-financed specific improvement grants scheme. The council sought funding for eight projects under this scheme in 2003, which did not include a proposal for the Bond Bridge, Maynooth.
It will be open to Kildare County Council to prioritise this project for funding under the EU co-financed scheme in 2004, when applications are sought later this year by my Department.
