Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Child Care Services.

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

251 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the problem for parents using the Civil Service crèche at his Department's offices at Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, due to the limitation on parking and the distance from the parking area to the crèche; his views on whether this may reduce the numbers using the crèche; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6287/03]

The Civil Service crèche is located at the rear of the Department's Marlborough Street complex and is the responsibility of the Department of Finance and the Office of Public Works. Access to the crèche is through the park at the front of the complex and is controlled by the Office of Public Works. The Office of Public Works has decided that vehicular access through the park, crèche or otherwise, would constitute a real danger under the health and safety regulations. Consequently, only limited vehicular access through the site is allowed.
