Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Coast Guard Service.

Joe Sherlock

Ceist:

152 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the progress which has been made with regard to his Department's consideration of the recent consultants' report on the Irish Coast Guard; if it is intended to implement the recommendations made in the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6279/03]

My Department's consideration of the review of the Irish Coast Guard undertaken by independent consultants is at an advanced stage and I expect to receive it very shortly.

My objective is to ensure that coast guard services in the marine environment and in inland areas are efficient and effective and represent value for money in accordance with international best practice.
