148 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the guidelines which have been issued to official Garda drivers to Government Ministers in regard to observance of speed limits; his plans to review the guidelines; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7319/03]

I am forwarding to the Deputy the full text of the Garda Commissioner's statement. I concur with the view of the Garda Commissioner that members of the force should, when driving official vehicles, adhere to the standards laid down by the Garda driving school and set an example for other road users by driving carefully.
