Under my Department's arts and culture capital enhancement support scheme which is running from 2001 to 2004, Thurles Civic Centre was offered funding amounting to €2.9 million in August 2001 for the arts element of the centre.
To date, none of this funding has been drawn down and I understand the project promoters may now wish to make significant alterations to the project that was approved. Unless the funding offered can be fully and properly drawn down before the end of the period of the scheme I cannot guarantee that it will be possible to make funding available thereafter for this project.
