Vol. 564 No. 2

Written Answers - Health Board Services.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

190 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kildare has not been supplied with their full quota of home help hours; the reason this person's hours have been halved in view of the fact that this person is an old age pensioner residing alone and in poor health; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9116/03]

As the Deputy will be aware the responsibility for the provision of the home help service in the Kildare area rests with Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply direct to him, as a matter of urgency.

Paul Kehoe

Ceist:

191 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding correspondence received from persons (details supplied) in County Wexford; the steps he will take in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9170/03]

The provision of health related services, including the provision of funding to people with physical and/or sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. I have had inquiries made into this matter and I understand from the South-Western Area Health Board that Colliga House, where the person currently resides, is privately run and is part of the Chrysalis retreat and workshop holistic centre. The board is not in a position to offer funding nor has funding been sought by this centre.
