Vol. 564 No. 2

Written Answers - Decentralisation Programme.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

74 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Defence the progress made to date in regard to the proposed transfer of the Civil Defence school from Dublin to Roscrea; his plans for a further decentralisation of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8938/03]

The Deputy will be aware that, in the context of the White Paper on Defence, the Government decided to decentralise the Civil Defence branch of my Department to Roscrea, County Tipperary. The Office of Public Works, which has responsibility for the provision of official accommodation for Government Departments, is currently considering a number of expressions of interest from developers and property owners in providing such accommodation in Roscrea for the decentralised Civil Defence branch. There are currently no further decentralisation plans for my Department.
