Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Special Educational Needs.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

257 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding a person (details supplied) in County Kildare, attending a special school where a health board other than the person's own is supplying speech and therapy tuition and will not allow the person to benefit from such tuition; if the person will be permitted to benefit from such tuition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9555/03]

The provision of health related services, including speech and language therapy, to people with physical and-or sensory disabilities in County Kildare is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the regional chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
