Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - Legislative Programme.

Seán Haughey

Ceist:

356 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Transport the Bills passed by the Houses of the Oireachtas since 1997 which deal specifically with Aer Lingus; if this legislation provided for the establishment by Aer Lingus of its own pension fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13471/03]

There were no Bills passed by the Houses of the Oireachtas since 1997 which deal specifically with Aer Lingus or with the establishment of a pension fund by Aer Lingus. However, the Government decision on 15 April last approved the redrafting of the Aer Lingus Bill 2000 to provide for the establishment of an ESOP and the statutory framework to facilitate a private sector investment process as well as the establishment of new pension scheme(s).

The legislation is currently being drafted and is expected to be finalised over the next few weeks.
