Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sale of State Assets.

Seán Crowe

Ceist:

205 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Finance if his Department had any meetings, contacts, conversations or received any correspondence, from or with developers when deciding which of the State's assets to sell off. [13648/03]

The Commissioners of Public Works have advised that a range of considerations are taken into account when deciding which State properties are to be sold or disposed of. These are: the planning issues in the context of their development potential; their overall condition; the extent to which decisions on decentralisation might impact on them; the alternative uses to which they might be put, including the possibility of their being used for housing purposes; and their market value.

The sale of properties deemed surplus to requirement will be done in a clear and transparent manner on the open market.
