Vol. 567 No. 3

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

110 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the sections of his Department likely to be transferred to Maynooth or Backweston; when the transfer will take place; the number of personnel involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14198/03]

To date 106 staff from my Department have relocated to Maynooth from the following areas: information systems; crop production and safety; horticulture and plant health; feedingstuffs, fertilisers, grain, pigs and poultry; special investigations unit; veterinary medicines section; audit unit; and accommodation.

Approximately 100 additional staff will relocate by autumn from the following divisions: information systems; national beef assurance scheme; livestock; beef and sheepmeat; and ERAD. It is also proposed that a further 130 staff will relocate to Maynooth at a later date.

When the Department's new office accommodation in Backweston is complete it is intended that the staff mentioned will transfer there.

The Backweston laboratory campus will be completed by late summer 2004. Staff from my Department's laboratories and other areas located at present in Abbottsown will be relocated there by early 2005.

Question No. 111 withdrawn.
