Ceist:

139 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science the average cost to the State to maintain one student in secondary education; the similar figures for a student at primary level; and the full average cost of maintaining a student at third level. [14149/03]

Based on the 2003 Revised Estimates, the estimated average annual cost to the Exchequer of maintaining a student at first level is €4,350; at second level is €6,225; and at third level is €7,525.
