Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Seán Crowe

Ceist:

294 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 who is attending Balgaddy Ronanstown training centre under the care of Stewarts Hospital Services; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that due to cutbacks by his Department there is no funding allocated to this person, who is moderately mentally handicapped, to pursue work in Stewarts Hospital Services and that this person and their family were led to believe that a job in the horticultural section would be available for them on completion of training; the reason the funding necessary for this has not come through from his Department; if this funding will come through; and if he will make a statement on his commitment to support for people with disabilities in the year of the disabled. [14230/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Dublin area is a matter, in the first instance, for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
