Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

317 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the process of waiting list validation; if, in 2001, 520 children from the Western Health Board region and 368 children in 2002 were removed from the treatment waiting list during the process of validation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14355/03]

Waiting list validation is an integral component of the efficient management and organisation of waiting lists. Regular waiting list validation exercises are designed to establish the true number of patients awaiting treatment. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to the specific matter raised.
