Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Army Barracks.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

174 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the position regarding the purchase of existing military houses, a pitch and putt course and tennis courts at Collins Barracks, Cork. [14534/03]

The question of the sale of property surplus to military requirements has been undergoing examination to fund much needed investment to meet the equipment and infrastructure needs of the Defence Forces. In this regard, I have decided that part of the Camp Field, Collins Barracks, Cork, will be disposed of and arrangements have been put in train to dispose of that area which comprises approximately 9.1 acres and which is made up of officers married quarters, tennis courts and the pitch and putt course. An offer for the property received from Cork City Council is under consideration in my Department.
