214 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on reports that traffic police in the Dublin city area now finish work at 5.30 p.m. due to cutbacks in the Garda budget; the action he will take to address this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed by the Garda authorities who are responsible for the allocation of personnel to different areas that the gardaí attached to the regional traffic division, Dublin Castle operate a three relief system. The early unit works from 6.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. The late unit works from 1.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. The night unit works from 7.00 p.m. to 3.00 a.m. None of the rosters finishes work at 5.30 p.m.
