Vol. 568 No. 2

Written Answers. - Adoption Services.

John Cregan

Ceist:

198 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the delay being caused to couples who are in the middle of inter-country adoption by the public health doctors dispute; if arrangements will be put in place to have their assessments dealt with by other personnel rather than the health board adoption committee; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16235/03]

While every effort is being made to reach agreement with the Irish Medical Organisation, it has not yet been possible to resolve the public health doctors' dispute. The working arrangements of the adoption panels and committees which approve applicants for adoption at health board level are a matter for each individual board.
