179 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Defence the current number of staff broken down by grade employed within the private office and the constituency office in respect of his and each Minister of State within his Department; the current amount paid in respect of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16841/03]

There are currently ten staff attached to my ministerial offices, as follows: Private office – special adviser, higher executive officer, executive officer, staff officer – worksharing, clerical officer. Current rates of salary amount to €194,524 per annum. Costs on overtime and expenses – travelling and subsistence – amounted to €16 and €14,298 respectively, during the past year. Constituency office – personal assistant, personal secretary, staff officer and two clerical officers, one worksharing. Current rates of salary and allowance amount to €145,196 per annum. There were no costs in relation to overtime or expenses during the past year. There are currently two staff attached to the offices of the Minister of State at the Department of Defence, as follows: Private office – higher executive officer. Current rate of salary and allowance amounts to €53,071 per annum.

Constituency office – clerical officer. Current rate of salary amounts to €20,958 per annum. There were no costs on overtime or expenses during the past year for either officer.
