377 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Transport if his Department has been in contact with the Department of Education and Science regarding the proposals from this Department regarding the standardisation of the school calendar and terms and the possible implications for traffic patterns. I am aware of the arrangements that the Department of Education and Science has recently announced regarding standardisation of the calendar for first and second level schools during the school year 2003-04. I appreciate that the new arrangements could have an impact on traffic flows, particularly in the greater Dublin area. In this regard, I have instructed my officials to ask the Dublin Transportation Office to use their traffic model to determine the possible impact of the new arrangements on traffic patterns and to report back to me on the matter.
