Vol. 568 No. 5

Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Issues.

Joe Costello

Ceist:

381 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress which has been made by the Nally Inquiry into the Omagh Bombing; if a preliminary report has been presented to him; when he expects the final report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16389/03]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 128 of 12 March 2003. To clarify matters for the Deputy I should point out that the group was established to examine matters arising from the report raising concerns of the activity of Garda officers during 1998, dated 22 March 2002, prepared by the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland for the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and on the basis of this examination to report to the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform and, if considered appropriate, to make recommendations. The group is not inquiring into the Omagh bombing of 15 August 1998.
