McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the names of the persons who replaced Government Ministers on their local councils when they resigned their seats; if most Government Deputies put in family members; and his views on the impact of this on the debate regarding ending the dual mandate. My Department's information on the membership of local authorities is derived from details supplied by local authorities and is limited to the names, addresses and party affiliation, if any, of members. The latest compilation of this information is in a booklet prepared by my Department in July 2002 and which I am arranging to have sent to the Deputy. This would not include recent changes in local authority membership.
