455 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the current number of staff, broken down by grade, employed in the press office in respect of his office and the office of each Minister of State within his Department; the current amount paid in respect of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 457 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the current number of staff broken down by grade employed within the private office and the constituency office in respect of himself and each Minister of State within his Department; the current amount paid in respect of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Question Nos. 455 and 457 together.

The following is the information requested by the Deputy:

(1) Minister's private office: one HEO, also paid a private secretary allowance of €15,219.36 per annum; one personal secretary, secretarial assistant pay scale; one executive officer; five clerical officers.

(2) Minister's constituency office: one personal assistant, HEO scale; one executive officer; one staff officer; two clerical officers.

(3) Minister of State's private office: one executive officer, also paid a private secretary allowance of €15,219.36 per annum; two clerical officers.

(4) The Department's press office: one media adviser, principal officer pay scale; one higher executive officer; one executive officer; two clerical officers.

The total amount of overtime paid from June 2002 to date in respect of each office is as follows: (1) €3,792.16; (2) None; (3) None; (4) €7,174.73. The total is €10,966.89. The total amount of travel and subsistence paid from June 2002 to date, including travel abroad on official business, in respect of each office is as follows: (1) €8,009.80; (2) €445.63; (3) €1,081.37; (4) €14,867.19. The total is €24,403.99. The range of the pay scales – standard – in respect of the grades listed is as follows, with effect from 1 October 2002, and including the first phase of the benchmarking agreement:
