Vol. 570 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

125 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the names of persons with their correspondence address in County Roscommon who are currently on State boards under the aegis of his Department; the date of their appointment; the duration of their term; the role of each on the board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19342/03]

There are three State boards under the aegis of my Department – the Advisory Board of Ireland Aid, the Development Education Advisory Committee and the Agency for Personal Services Overseas. No members of these boards have their correspondence address in Roscommon. In selecting persons to act on boards, appointments are not made on the basis of geographical location. The appointees to State boards carry out an important function and are chosen on the basis of the qualities and attributes which I believe are required to discharge this function.
