Vol. 570 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Moynihan

Ceist:

77 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason extensification aid was not awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in 2002. [19212/03]

The person named participated in the 2002 extensification premium opting for the census system for the purposes of determining eligibility.

The stocking density of the holding calculated on the basis of the numbers of bovine animals declared by the person named at the five census dates was 2.0870 livestock units per hectare. A cross-check against the CMMS animal database showed the same stocking density.

Under EU regulations the 2002 extensification premium may only be paid where the stocking density of a holding does not exceed 1.80 livestock units per hectare. As the stocking density in this case exceeds the limit the person named is not eligible for any extensification premium for 2002.
